We are all part of the energy of the universe so it’s no surprise that we are affected by
the energy around us. This energy takes many forms and includes the Earth’s own
magnetic energy, the energy produced by other living things or objects and the planets
we see in the sky. The energy within us is more powerful than most people realise and
once we learn how to use it we may see some amazing results. Think of the film Star
Wars where the concept of an all encompassing force is the basis of the story. Although
this is only fiction, it does demonstrate the connection between all things even if it is in an
extreme and imaginary way. In ancient Chinese philosophy this universal life force is
referred to as the flow of
chi.

Other animals already use their energy and the energy around them but for some reason
we have mostly forgotten how to do this ourselves or we just don’t notice it any more.
Birds seem to be very tuned into the magnetic energy of the Earth with homing pigeons
and seasonal migrations a sign of how well it works. Many animals seem to have built-in
compasses to guide them as they migrate huge distances to find better feeding grounds
or for breeding. Even frogs come back to same place to breed every year. Have you ever
noticed how cats are drawn to anything electrical? They seem to be very sensitive to the
energy around them.

All life on Earth lives within the Earth’s magnetic energy and so it makes sense that we
will be affected by any changes or distortions created either naturally or artificially. Some
people are very sensitive to changes in magnetic or electrical energy and this may
explain how dowsers have the ability to locate underground water etc.

We are more influenced by the Earth’s magnetic energy than we probably realise. Have
you ever wondered why you sleep well in some beds and not in others? Obviously if the
bed is less comfortable that will make a difference but if you feel that the actual sleep was
not as refreshing as it should be it may be due to the Earth’s magnetic energy. This
strange phenomena would seem to be connected with either the direction the earth’s
magnetic energy passes through the body whilst you sleep or the way you learnt to sleep
as a child which becomes imprinted in your memory to produce a familiar sleep pattern.
Think back to your own sleep patterns as a child and see if you can identify the best
sleeping direction for yourself. It may be head in the west and feet in the east, head in
the north and feet in the south, head east and feet west or head north east and feet
south west etc. It works for me so give it a try.

As well as magnetic energy the Earth produces ley lines on which ancient peoples have
built their sacred sites like stone circles, temples and churches, Stonehenge being the
most famous of these. They are said to be alignments of very strong natural earth
energy that we cannot see and why they exist remains a mystery. To the Saxons
ley is
the word for meadow and in the Far East these lines are called
dragon veins or dragon
lines
. It is interesting that early Christians realised the importance of these sites of
energy and built their new churches on them. However, this was in order to more easily
convert the pagans who worshipped there rather than to tap into the energy source.
If you can answer yes to any of the following sentences you are probably more
connected to the energy of the universe than you think -

  • Can you feel when a thunderstorm is around?
  • Have you ever felt the energy coming up through the ground like from a ley line?
  • Do you sleep better when facing a certain direction?
  • Do you get static shocks off things around you?
  • Do you have problems with wind-up watches working correctly?
  • Do you have an outstanding sense of direction?

If you’re not sure about your answers then investigate further and keep a note of any
reactions you have, I think you’ll be surprised.

Healing in the form of Reiki involves resolving misaligned energy in people, animals or
even surroundings and so alleviates any problems that may result. In the form of
acupuncture, the healing uses invisible energy pathways in the body to energise the
injured area.
In many ways it could be that Reiki and Acupuncture are connected to what scientists call
the
placebo effect. This means that because the patient believes they will get better,
even without physical treatment or a scientifically proved method of healing, they do get
better, they heal themselves. It may be all in the mind but if it works surely the best
method of healing is for the body to heal itself.

Reiki is an ancient method of healing that uses the body’s own energy to heal itself. As
we are all part of the energy of the universe then it is understandable that we can learn
to realign the energy of others to heal them. The word Reiki can be translated as
soul
energy
and it originated in Japan as a form of self-healing and spiritual development.
Modern day Reiki uses the same ideas and uses channelled energy on a spiritual level to
achieve healing. This is different to the
physical energy that is manipulated in
acupuncture. The spiritual energy used in Reiki is not connected to any religion or belief
system but is universal and therefore may be acceptable to everyone. Try Reiki for
stress, sleep problems or for relaxation. Reiki is also good for muscular problems and
general pain relief.

Acupuncture uses very fine needles to stimulate points on the body to achieve the
healing of specific health problems. These points have been mapped by the Chinese
over a period of two thousand years and the healing is achieved by correcting the flow of
energy along invisible pathways or meridians that connect the points. By doing this,
acupuncture regulates and restores the harmonious balance of energy in the body.
There are more than 400 acupuncture points on the body and 20 meridians connecting
them.

Acupuncture does not hurt and you don’t feel the needles go in other than possibly
something like a quick scratch. You can feel the needles working as your muscles relax
and you may begin to feel hot as the energy flows along the meridians. This heat is also
felt during Reiki when healing using energy takes place.

Healing using natural energy must be preferable to drugs or invasive procedures. But I
would still advise anyone to seek advice from their doctor first, in case something serious
is causing their symptoms. With muscular problems caused by injury or stress, a natural
approach like acupuncture can have miraculous results. Acupuncture is also successful
for headaches which are caused through muscle spasm or tension, sinus problems and
as a natural form of pain relief.
Mind, Body & Spirit - Energy & Healing

Energy takes many forms that are perceptible to us in our everyday
lives. For example,
ley lines are invisible lines or paths of strong
energy emanating from the Earth which are discernible by some
humans and animals.
