But the history of chakras probably extends back even further than this as unwritten
knowledge passed on orally.
Each chakra is located close to an area of concentrated nerves or lymphatic tissue and
is associated with one of the seven colours of the rainbow.
- Base/Root - at the base of the spine = Red
- Sacral - at the pelvis = Orange
- Solar Plexus - just below the ribs = Yellow
- Heart - at the chest = Green
- Throat - at the neck = Blue
- Brow/Third Eye - at the forehead = Indigo
- Crown - at the top of the head = Violet
Balancing the chakras is thought to promote physical, emotional and spiritual well being.
Gemstones of the chakra colours are used in some healing methods and the chakras
may be used as a focus.

Mind, Body & Spirit - Chakras
Chakras are seven main energy centres within the body that are
aligned in ascending points along the spine.
