Biography
Albert Einstein was born on 14th March 1879 in Ulm, Wuttenberg, Germany.
Einstein’s family were non-practicing Jews and they moved to Munich when his father set up an electrical business there. His mother was a talented musician and Einstein was encouraged to learn the violin from a young age. At the age of five his father showed him a pocket compass and the realisation that something unseen was making the needle move had a lasting effect on him. Although the young Einstein was quiet and had speech difficulties, he was a top student at school. However, he was unhappy with traditional learning methods and undertook much personal study outside of school. Einstein showed an early talent for mathematics, calculus and science.
Einstein’s father wanted him to become an electrical engineer but when he was aged 15 the family moved to Italy after his father's business failed. Soon after the move, Einstein wrote his first scientific work connected with magnetic fields and in the same year (aged 16) he performed his first experiment. Despite his obvious talents, he failed the entrance exam for the Institute of Technology in Zurich.
At the suggestion of the principal, he moved to Switzerland and lodged with a family there to enable him to finish secondary school. He graduated aged 17 and was finally able to enrol at the Institute of Technology. Mileva Maric enrolled at the Institute in 1896 as the only woman studying mathematics. Einstein was a handsome romantic and over the next few years their friendship developed into romance. They had an illegitimate daughter in 1902 and Einstein’s family were against them marrying as she was beneath their social class. It is not known if the child was adopted or died in infancy. However, once Einstein secured a job at the patent office in 1903 they were able to marry. They had two sons but divorced in 1919. Einstein’s second wife was his divorced cousin, Elsa. She was more able to cope with his attraction for the ladies.
In 1905 (aged 26) Einstein published four groundbreaking scientific papers. These included his special theory of relativity and his equation E = mc2 which related mass and energy. In the same year he was awarded a PhD by the University of Zurich. Einstein's work was becoming recognised as original and important and in 1909 he became Associate Professor of Theoretical Physics at Zurich. In 1911 he became Professor of Theoretical Physics at the German University in Prague and in 1914 he was appointed director of the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Physics in Berlin. That year he became a German citizen. In 1916 (aged 37) he published his theory of general relativity. In 1921 (aged 42) Einstein was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for his work in the field of theoretical physics.
Einstein lectured in Europe, North and South America and Palestine and was involved in the establishment of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. In 1933 the Nazis took power in Germany and so Einstein emigrated to America. He accepted a position at the Institute of Advanced Study in Princeton and took US citizenship. He retired in 1945 (aged 66) but worked for the rest of his life towards a theory that would establish a merger between quantum theory and his general theory of relativity.
He was active in the peace movement and campaigned for a ban on nuclear weapons. For his support of Zionist causes, he was offered the presidency of Israel in 1952, which he declined. Although he did not believe in a personal god, he was deeply religious and could see the important relationship between religion and science.
Einstein died on 18th April 1955 (aged 76) in Princeton, New Jersey, USA. The cause of death was a ruptured aortic aneurism. Einstein’s brain was removed and preserved for future research into what had made him so intelligent.

Astrology -
Albert Einstein must be one of the best known scientists but he was also musical and thought of as a dreamer by his early teachers. His chart shows these seemingly opposing sides to his character, but when combined they make a brilliant thinker and solver of problems.
The Ascendant or rising sign (your appearance, how you are seen) is in Cancer and this shows that Einstein had emotional commitment to achieve his personal goals and definitely had the strength to succeed. This sign on the Ascendant can also indicate a scruffy appearance and Einstein did look the archetypal mad professor as he got older.
The Sun (your personality, how you experience life, your essential energy) is in Pisces in the 10th house and this position of the Sun indicates being noticed and achieving fame. Being in Pisces shows that he was also sensitive, caring, a dreamer and musical.
The Moon (your instinctive natural reaction, moods, habits and your mother) is in Sagittarius in the 6th house which suggests leaving home to settle abroad. Einstein was seeking the truth and certainly did not thrive in a routine working pattern. A nine to five job was not him, he needed the room to expand himself.
Mercury (your mind, intellect, communication, learning, mischief and criminal activities) is in Aries in the 10th house and shows Einstein’s ability to communicate ideas in ways understood by the public as a pioneer of thought. But he also has Mercury conjunct Saturn and this could explain his early speech difficulties.
Venus (your relationships, love, affection, harmony and sociability) is in Aries in the 10th house and this adds public attention through his speaking voice as well as being physically attractive and well known.
Mars (your physical energy, initiative, action and how you get what you want) is in Capricorn in the 7th house showing Einstein to be determined and hard working. He also put much energy into his relationships which helped him to succeed.
Jupiter (your belief system, expansion and also representing the world of publishing) is in Aquarius in the 9th house and Einstein had far reaching views that benefitted from his travels. He produced original/unusual writings and was capable of scientific expansion on a large scale.
Saturn (your limitations, lessons to be learned, the key to your career, professional performance and your father) is in Aries in the 10th house giving Einstein the drive to achieve success in his chosen profession. He was a scientific pioneer for which he gained public renown. His father had a very strong influence in his early years and started him on his scientific path.
Uranus (your power to invent the new, desire for change, originality and unpredictable behaviour) is in Virgo in the 3rd house and in his early life he was rebellious and his method of learning was unusual or original. But he was interested in precise details as well as originality so had the makings of a successful researcher and inventor.
Neptune (the collapse of your boundaries, mysterious behaviour, elusiveness and dreams) is in Taurus in the 11th house and Einstein had dreams and hunches that were often correct. His systems of thought were elusive but he was able to make sense of them with the scientific ability shown elsewhere in his chart.
Pluto (your hidden issues, compulsion and dark side) is in Taurus in the 11th house showing his strong or even controversial ideas were often against traditional systems of thought. However, this would not deter him and he continued along his own path until he achieved success.
Midheaven (your career, aspirations, public face and what you become) is in Pisces and Einstein worked tirelessly in the background to achieve his aims. He was able to cope with the emotionally draining effects of his work and used his artistic, fluid thinking to find that which was most elusive.
