Biography
Agatha Christie was born Agatha Mary Clarissa Miller on 15th September 1890 in Torquay, Devon, England.
Her father was an American and her mother an English aristocrat. Agatha never held or claimed United States citizenship. Her father died when she was a child and she had two older siblings, a sister eleven years her senior and a brother ten years her senior. Agatha was educated at home where her mother encouraged her to write from a very early age. At sixteen she was sent to school in Paris where she studied singing and piano. Agatha was an accomplished pianist but her stage fright and shyness prevented her from pursuing a career in music. When her mother took her to Cairo for a winter, she wrote a novel there. Encouraged by a neighbour and friend in Torquay, Agatha devoted herself to writing and had short stories published.
Her first marriage in 1914 was to Colonel Archibald Christie who was an aviator in the Royal Flying Corps. The couple had one daughter born in 1919 but the marriage broke up in 1926 when Archie announced that he had fallen in love with a younger woman. In the same year Agatha's mother died. On 8th December 1926 Agatha disappeared for ten days, causing considerable press coverage. Her car was found in a chalk pit and she was eventually found staying at a hotel in Harrogate under the name of the woman with whom her husband had recently admitted to having an affair. She claimed to have suffered amnesia due to a nervous breakdown following the death of her mother and her husband's infidelity. Their divorce was finalised in 1928.
Agatha’s second marriage was in 1930 to archaeologist Sir Max Mallowan. He was 14 years younger than her and their travels contributed background to several of her novels set in the Middle East. Their marriage was happy in the early years and endured his many affairs in later life. Agatha’s 1934 novel, Murder on the Orient Express was written in the Pera Palas hotel in Istanbul, Turkey and the hotel maintains the room as a memorial to her.
In 56 years Agatha Christie wrote 66 detective novels and many were influenced by her work in a hospital pharmacy during World War I where she gained a knowledge of poisons. In 1971 she was made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire and by the time of her death she was the best-selling English novelist of all time. Her books also gained much success on the stage and in the cinema.
Agatha Christie died from natural causes on 12th January 1976 aged 85 at Winterbrook House, Cholsey, Oxfordshire. She is buried at St. Mary's Churchyard in Cholsey.

Astrology -
Agatha Christie knew her poisons and incorporated this into many of her stories. I would expect to see Neptune (drugs) and Mercury/Pluto (crime, underworld) prominent in her chart. Also, Virgo and Gemini for writing and Jupiter representing publishing.
The Ascendant or rising sign (your appearance, how you are seen) is in Virgo so Agatha was a double Virgo having the Sun and Ascendant in the same sign. This makes the influence of Virgo very strong. Agatha was modest, quiet and unassuming as you would expect from a Virgo Ascendant, but she was also shrewd with her money and worked hard to maintain her privacy.
The Sun (your personality, how you experience life, your essential energy) is in Virgo in the1st house giving her a strong sense of identity and determined to make something of herself. Virgo’s association with precise detail, research and writing is very apparent in this position.
The Moon (your instinctive natural reaction, moods, habits and your mother) is in Libra in the 2nd house and shows a musical ability and emotional wellbeing that depends on material (and relationship) stability/security.
Mercury (your mind, intellect, communication, learning, mischief and criminal activities) is in Libra in the 2nd house which shows that Agatha had a curiosity about people and placed a high value on communication. Mercury conjunct Uranus gives originality in her writing and this position of Mercury shows writers with mass appeal.
Venus (your relationships, love, affection, harmony and sociability) is in Scorpio in the 3rd house and this suggests that Agatha would react to her husband’s affairs very intensely and her breakdown may have been as a result of this. But her Libra Moon shows a dislike for disputes so could be the reason she accepted her 2nd husband’s infidelity. Also indicated here is an early talent in music and writing ability.
Mars (your physical energy, initiative, action and how you get what you want) is in Sagittarius in the 4th house and a need to be physically on the move could explain the extent of her travels. A strong constitution into old age and putting energy into the home is also shown here.
Jupiter (your belief system, expansion and also representing the world of publishing) is in Aquarius in the 5th house and Agatha would have gained much pleasure from having her books published.
Saturn (your limitations, lessons to be learned, the key to your career, professional performance and your father) is in Virgo in the 1st house and this gives Agatha the self-discipline needed to write the complex plots in her stories. Shyness is also indicated by Saturn in this position which would be most noticeable at a young age.
Uranus (your power to invent the new, desire for change, originality and unpredictable behaviour) is in Libra in the 3rd house and provides her originality and an unusual early education (hers was entirely at home).
Neptune (the collapse of your boundaries, mysterious behaviour, elusiveness and dreams) is in Gemini in the 10th house and here with Pluto shows poisons, mysteries, crime, writing and being in the public eye. Agatha’s imagination certainly brought her to the fore.
Pluto (your hidden issues, compulsion and dark side) is in Gemini in the 10th house and as well as the description under Neptune, there is an aptitude for science and healing, brought together in pharmacy.
Midheaven (your career, aspirations, public face and what you become) is in Taurus and shows a steady and secure career with musical ability also in evidence. There was no doubt that she would be financially and materially secure through her career.
